Find Superannuation

Thursday January 29, 2009

If you have changed managed super funds on a regular basis without paying too much attention, you may need to find superannuation savings that have become lost. While it is certainly rarer for people to lose superannuation savings now that they may choose their own superannuation fund, those people who have been forced to change in the past may have accidentally forgotten to move their superannuation over to new managed super funds. Fortunately, you can find superannuation quite easily.

The Australian Taxation Office site features the SuperSearch application that allows you to use your TFN and a few personal details in order to find superannuation savings left in inactive accounts. This is a great first step towards any attempt to find superannuation. Once you have found possible matches, you will need to contact the appropriate managed super funds to discuss release of the funds into your current account.
